Stockholm: information about the way to and from the airport

The capital of Sweden is situated on several islands and peninsulas between Lake Mälaren and the Baltic Sea. The city is dominated by many bridges and crystal-clear channels of water. The theatres, libraries and museums, as well as the royal opera house mean Stockholm is a cosmopolitan city and the cultural centre of the country. The heart of Stockholm is the old town of Gamla Stan with its historic façades and medieval arches. Tip: at the weekend try the clubs near the royal gardens.

Car:

From Stockholm take the E-4 north to Arlanda and follow signs for the airport (journey time: c. 45 minutes).

Rail:

Click here for a plan with the locations of the various stations at the airport. The Arlanda-Express to Stockholm runs regularly from 05:05 to 00:35 (journey time: c. 20 minutes).

Airport buses to Stockholm bus station and main train station operate daily from 06:40 to 23:05, at 10-minute intervals at peak times (journey time: c. 40 minutes).

Taxi:

There are taxi ranks directly outside the terminal buildings (journey time: c. 45 minutes).

Hire cars:

There are centrally-located Sixt and Avis rental locations at all Germanwings destinations. Reserve a car here and get great bargains.

The airport is 43 km north of Stockholm. There are information desks in Terminals 2, 4 and 5. The desk in Terminal 5 is open round the clock.

Parking:

For short-term parking we recommend the parking facilities near the terminals. Long-term facilities are available on the ALFA and BETA car parks.
